Physical Pre-orders Delayed for Pokemon Legends Arceus

The newest game in the Pokemon series, Pokemon Legends Arceus, is getting a lot of hype the closer the release date comes and fans are ready to play it when it releases on January 28th but for some people, playing the game that day isn’t looking likely. The Pokemon Center has started sending out emails to customers who have pre-ordered physical copies of the game from the Pokemon Center website stating their orders may be delayed. This would push back the delivery of their game to January 31st – February 4th. This means players may have to wait up to a week after release to receive and play Legends Arceus.

Canceling Preorders

Fans have a few options, obviously many are choosing to just wait it out for the preorder bonus, but if you want to play on release day you may need to cancel your pre-order and consider another option. If you want to cancel your pre-order, act fast. You only have until the end of today, January 20th, 11:59 EST to cancel your order. After you cancel, you won’t be charged by Pokemon Center and you can pre-order a digital copy or a physical copy from another location, such as GameStop to play on release day.

Pull Rates for VStar Cards in Star Birth Pokemon TCG Set

With Arceus being in the spotlight this month, The Pokemon Company has released the Star Birth TCG set in Japan and features the newest type of card! Star Birth is the first TCG set with VStar cards, which will be followed by the English version of the set, Brilliant Stars. It’s best to keep in mind the pull rates for Japanese sets usually differ from English sets so their pull rates could be quite different. Since VStar cards have been promoted a lot, we expect it to not be too difficult to pull as they want collectors to be satisfied. It’s too soon for pull rates on individual cards as we haven’t seen enough data but we can confidently see pull rates for card types, specifically VSTAR cards.

Odds of Pulling a VStar Card in Star Birth

Based on several YouTube channels posting Star Birth pack openings, the chances of getting VStar cards don’t seem too bad! Videos by UnlistedLeaf and TwicebakedJake, two great PokeTubers in the community, have shown them opening Star Birth Booster Boxes and pulling 2 VStar cards each. TwicebakedJake even pulled a Shaymin VSTAR Rainbow Rare (Hyper Rare)! These are anecdotal of course but are pretty good odds from what we’ve seen altogether this month. That’s 1 VStar card out of every 15 packs on average. With a 1/15 chance of pulling a VStar card, compared to rare cards in previous English sets such as Fusion Strike pull rates, these odds are not bad at all. Again, we’re not sure if the Brilliant Stars set will have good pull rates but we expect them to at least be better than Fusion Strike. The previous most recent Japanese set, VMax Climax, had the best pull rates we’ve seen. So compared to that set, VStar cards are still pretty rare, but just enough to get you hyped when you finally pull one.

Where To Buy Brilliant Stars

If you’re looking to get your hands on the upcoming English Pokemon TCG set, Brilliant Stars, one of the best places to get it is GameStop! Not only are they priced at retail value, so you don’t have to deal with scalpers, but they’re reliable source for booster packs. PokePatch also earns commission from qualified purchases through GameStop links, so you’ll be helping our site stay up. Thank you!

New 360 Degree Pokemon Legends Arceus Trailer Gives 3D View of Hisui Region

Pokemon Legends Arceus is set to release January 28th, which is less than a couple short weeks away. The official Pokemon YouTube channel has been releasing some great teasers and trailers to make fans more hyped for the game. Some trailers show new game mechanics or hint at new Hisuian Pokemon but the newest trailer shows us a glimpse of the Hisui Region we haven’t seen before. More specifically, the area called Obsidian Fieldlands.

360 View Trailer

This trailer uses YouTube’s 360 degree feature, which makes for an immersion viewing experience. While watching on a PC you’ll be able to look around by clicking and dragging. For the best viewing experience, watch on your phone or a mobile device and you can look around the Obsidian Fieldlands just by rotating, tilting, and panning your screen or device.

What This Trailer Shows Us

The main takeaway from this new trailer is not only the environment we’re traversing through but the means of transportation. It starts with the players character standing in some grassy fields and goes through all of the mounts we’re able to get in Legends Arceus. Wyrdeer for traveling on land, Hisuian Braviary for flight, and Basculegion for across water. Something very interesting about using these mounts is how smooth the transition is when switching between them. Players can smoothly transition between using different mounts just by entering different terrain. For example when flying Hisuian Braviary into the river, you summon and begin to ride Basculegion instead to match the conditions. Of course the environment is a major focus on this trailer as well and it seems fans are finally becoming more satisfied with how the graphics are turning out. Compared to very early trailers, the graphics have noticeably improved. If you found anything specific you liked about this trailer, let us know in the comments below!

Pokemon Legends Arceus Takes Up Less Storage Space Than Previously Thought

Pokemon Legends Arceus comes out this month and fans are preparing to play the game and getting hyped for it as more trailers release. One way you can prepare is by making sure you have enough storage space on your Nintendo Switch or SD card. So that begs the question, how big is Pokemon Legends Arceus?

How Much Storage Does Legends Arceus Take?

Recently the Required Space in Software Details for Pokemon Legends Arceus in the Nintendo eShop changed from 13GB to 6GB. This means on release Pokemon Legends Arceus will take up about 6GB on your Nintendo Switch. This isn’t taking into consideration patches, updates, or DLC but even with those things this size is incredibly low compared to other AAA games. Luckily, you won’t need to delete a bunch of games as long as you have enough space.

Compared To Other Games

Other popular games in the industry right now are taking more than 100GBs on PCs and consoles so naturally 6GB is a surprisingly small number. This change has started a conversation in the community about why the size is so low. Some people blame lack of content for this small file size but others have pointed out that it’s normal for Nintendo games to be small in file size. For example, despite how large of a game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is, it’s takes up just above 14GB on the Switch. These small file sizes could be due to more simple or less high resolution textures but it’s also most likely because of compression. Compression for many game developers isn’t a huge focus but it seems Nintendo likes their games compressed a certain way so they take up less space.

What Are Lodgings? Pokemon Legends Arceus Trailer Review

A new trailer was released for the upcoming Pokemon Legends Arceus game that shows us some new game mechanics more in depth, while teasing at some features we still don’t know about. In this trailer it was revealed that players will have their own lodges but not many details were shown past that. It seems like this will be a safe house in Jubilife Village for players. While the player is walking through the lodge, we see three different items they’re able to interact with as the button prompt for “investigate” pops up. The first time it pops up next to a vase or bucket of some sort. Then on a campfire and lastly, something sitting on a table.

What Are Lodgings used for?

It’s not confirmed what any of these items are used for but we have some ideas. The 1st thing we see could be used as a storage container, since we know we have limited storage in our bags. The 2nd item is probably the most obvious one, it looks like a fire used for cooking. 3 is more mysterious because we can’t see exactly what it is but fans think it could for crafting scrolls or TMs. We also see a bed in the background, that’s probably used to change the time of day. There’s also the possibility that “investigate” doesn’t mean use. These items in your lodging could just be things we can inspect, much like a lot of things we see indoors throughout Pokemon games. We’ll just have to see what else we can do with these lodgings when the game releases and we’ll update information here.

If you’d like to share your theories comment below or join the conversation we started on the r/PokemonLegendsArceus subreddit here.

How To Defeat Frenzied Nobles in Pokemon Legends Arceus Tips and Tricks

The upcoming game, Pokemon Legends Arceus, is coming out soon and will feature many new gameplay mechanics to explore. One new major addition to the game is Noble Pokemon battles. Nobles are powerful Pokemon that have a mysterious blessing and for this reason are protected by wardens. On your journey through the Hisui region, you’ll need to help quell these Frenzied Nobles. Simply battling a Noble Pokemon with your own won’t be enough to quell them. Here’s what you’ll need to do to beat a frenzied Noble Pokemon.

Throwing Balms

Noble Pokemon have two health bars. Balms affect the big one and Pokemon attacks effect the smaller one. While the big bar is on your screen, aim and throw balms at the frenzied Noble Pokemon and this bar will go down. Time your balm throws between attacks. It’s best to spam throw as many as you can while you have the chance but don’t do it for too long or you’ll get hit. Balms can be crafted using certain Pokemon’s favorite foods.

Dodging Attacks

Legends Arceus is very different from previous Pokemon games because the Pokemon can directly attack your trainer. Throwing balms at the Noble would be easy without it constantly attacking you but that’s exactly what it will to do. Dodge the Noble Pokemon’s attacks while throwing as many balms at it as you can. There are usually signs before it attacks, like the Pokemon is charging up. Watch for these signs and dodge at the correct time to prevent getting hit. If your trainer gets hit too many times, you’ll black out. When you’ve thrown enough balms, the Noble will let down its guard. Now is your time to attack.

Battle Openings

Once the Noble let’s its guard down, a smaller HP bar will appear over it’s head. This is your chance to summon your own Pokemon and battle it. Attack the Noble during these openings to weaken it further.

How to Defeat Noble Kleavor

When it comes to Kleavor, there are two indicators that it will attack. The first attack, Kleavor will lunge at you. Before this attack you’ll see a yellow shine in its eye, this is your sign to dodge to the side, out of the way. The second attack starts with a wind animation surrounding Kleavor. This is a short range attack so when you see this animation, roll backwards.

How to Trade with Friends in Pokemon Legends Arceus

The newest Pokemon game, Pokemon Legends Arceus, has many new game mechanics and features, some of which change everything we know about Pokemon games. New features range from combat to how players navigate the Hisui region. One thing that developers decided to keep in the new game is trading Pokemon. Trading Pokemon with others has been a huge part of mainline games ever since the first generation on the Gameboy and it’s not going away anytime soon. You’ll be able to trading Pokemon with friends and other players at the Trading Post.

Where is the Trading Post?

The trading Post in Hisui is found in the main village, Jubilife Village. It can be identified by a yellow and red banner with Togepi on it, as seen above. When you get to the trading post, speak to Simona and you’ll have a couple options. At the trading post you’ll have the ability to exchange merit points for items and trade Pokemon with others. Merit Points can be earned from the Lost and Found system and you can use them to buy Rare Candy and Evolution Stones. As long as you have a Nintendo Switch Online membership, you’ll be able to trade Pokemon with your friends at this trading post as well.

All Throwable Items Explained in Pokemon Legends Arceus

What are Pokeballs?

Pokeballs should be the most familiar throwable item in this list. Simply put, Pokeballs are used to catch Pokemon. Throw a Pokeball at a Pokemon you want to catch while it’s either distracted or weakened to attempt to catch it. If you successfully caught it, fireworks will shoot out, if not be prepared for a battle. There are different types of Pokeballs that give you certain advantages in different environments or circumstances.

What are Berries?

Berries are not only craftable and consumable items but they’re also throwable. Throwing certain berries beside a Pokemon will distract it. The Pokemon will walk over to the berry and while they’re eating it, you can sneak up and throw a Pokeball to attempt to catch it.

Here’s a list of berries and their effects:

What are Balms?

Balms are specifically used on frenzied Noble Pokemon. These items can be crafted out of Pokemon’s favorite foods. When a Noble Pokemon is attacking you, just battling with it won’t be enough. To quell it, you’ll need to throw these balms at it while dodging it’s attacks. When there’s an opening, you can battle it and hit it with another Pokemon.

What are Smoke Bombs?

Throwing a smoke bomb reduces visibility and prevents wild Pokemon from noticing you. This can be used as an advantage when catching or sneaking past Pokemon. Throw a smoke bomb before sneaking up on a Pokemon and throwing a Pokeball at it. Similar to using berries as a distraction, this can be used to get a better shot when throwing Pokeballs.

Will Giratina Be in Pokemon Legends Arceus?

Who is Giratina?

The release for Pokemon Legends Arceus is just a couple weeks away and we’re finally seeing more gameplay trailers and promo material showing us parts of this otherwise mysterious game. We see a lot abuot Dialga and Palkia, two of the Pokemon created by Arceus. They’re are clans in the Hisui region that worship these two as deities. But it wasn’t just Palkia and Dialga that were created directly by Arceus. Another Pokemon called Giratina was created along side them but was banished due to it’s violent nature. This makes sense because while Palkia and Dialga represent matter and time, Giratina represents anti-matter.

Where is Giratina?

This is obviously all speculation, since the game isn’t out just yet, so there will be no spoilers here, just theories. Giratina may not be seen in Pokemon Legends Arceus trailers for multiple reasons. Maybe they’re not in the game at all because they’re still banished. If we do see Giratina, it’ll most likely be in end game content, such as a final boss, or in DLC later in the year. An interesting theory is that Giratina is the reason Noble Pokemon are becoming frenzied and turning other Pokemon into Alpha Pokemon in the Hisui region. Some evidence of this is Alpha Pokemon having glowing red eyes, similar to Giratina’s eyes. Maybe we’ll need to face Giratina to stop this from happening further. It’s hard to tell what will happen or if we’ll see Giratina at all in Pokemon Legends Arceus but it’s exciting to make theories. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.

What Are Research Tasks in Pokemon Legends Arceus

With the new game, Pokemon Legends Arceus, coming out this month fans are continually seeing new game mechanics and features being introduced into this upcoming game. One game mechanic we’re all used to seeing is a Pokedex. This feature, like many others are being changed in the new game. The new Pokedex will add more missions to do and possibly more things to unlock.

What is a Pokedex?

To know what Research Tasks are, first you need to understand the Pokedex. For veteran players and fans of the Pokemon franchise, the Pokedex needs no introduction. But for newer players, which Legends Arceus will be attracting a lot of, a Pokedex is a device that keeps track of Pokemon you’ve seen and caught. In Pokemon Legends Arceus, your Pokedex isn’t a high tech device but a journal. Once you catch a certain Pokemon, it gets added to your Pokedex.

Research Tasks Explained

Research Tasks expand your Pokedex by adding side missions to it. In other Pokemon games, when you catch a Pokemon it gets marked in your Pokedex. Once you’ve caught one of each Pokemon available in the game, you’ve completed your Pokedex! In Pokemon Legends Arceus, there will be more to the Pokedex than just catching a Pokemon. Once you’ve discovered and caught a Pokemon, a list of research tasks will appear. You’ll need to complete all of these tasks to finish that Pokemon’s entry in your Pokedex. This change stems from who you are as a trainer. You’re mission throughout Legends Arceus is to study and research Pokemon, while in most other games your mission is to catch, level up, and battle other trainers and gym leaders.

What Do You Get From Completing Research Tasks?

When a task is complete, your rank with the Galaxy Expedition Team increases and you’ll find more information about the Pokemon you’re researching.

Fans are theorizing that your Research Tasks on a specific Pokemon might affect your chance of encountering a shiny version of that Pokemon. This hasn’t been confirmed yet but would be a neat mechanic that will add another layer of rarity to shiny Pokemon.
